Volkswagen has fully revealed the new generation Polo, which will go on sale in Ireland in November, writes Brian Byrne.
Pictured are the GTI version (top) and the interior of the R-Line version (below) which shows a much more high-tech interior than any version of the outgoing model.
The car is on the same modern platform as the recently-arrived SEAT Ibiza, and is bigger in every dimension than the fifth-generation Polo. The boot space is particularly larger, with 351L of capacity compared to 280L.
All variants will have LED daytime running lights as standard, as well as a front monitoring system with city emergency braking and pedestrian monitoring.
Options will include an adaptive cruise control. For Ireland, there will be a choice of four petrol and two diesel engines, all equipped as standard with start/stop system and regenerative braking mode. Every engine with a power output of 90hp or above can be combined with a dual clutch automatic gearbox (DSG).
