With some 306 Nissan Leafs registered in July, the leading electric car has more than 2,700 units travelling on Irish roads, writes Brian Byrne.
The current version offers a 50pc more range on a charge than its predecessor, representing about 300km in real-world driving.
Government incentives including the SEAI purchase grant of €5,000, the additional €7,000 SEAI grant for taxi drivers, the introduction of 0pc BIK on company vehicles, half price tolls and the environmental benefits of switching to a 100pc electric car are also playing a big role in influencing
consumers, according to Nissan Ireland.
