Volvo XC40 wins ICOTY 2019

The Volvo XC40 is the Irish Car of the Year 2019 in association with Continental, as judged by a panel of Ireland's motoring writers, writes Trish Whelan.

The win was announced this evening at a gala dinner in The Gibson Hotel in Dublin.

Fergus Conheady of Mercedes-Benz Commercials Ireland accepts the IVOTY award from Tom Dennigan of Continental Ireland in the presence of Gerry Murphy from the Irish Van of the Year jury. 
The winner of the Irish Van of the Year 2019 in association with Continental is the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

Deirdre Keating of Rialto Ford accepted the Focus award on behalf of Ford Ireland.
The Ford Focus won the Compact Car of the Year category.

Stephen Byrne, MD of Mercedes-Benz Ireland, accepts the CLS award from Tom Dennigan of Continental Ireland, in the presence of Mark Gallivan and Bob Flavin of the Irish Car of the Year Committee.
The Mercedes-Benz CLS is the Executive/Premium Car of the Year.

The Small Crossover category was won by the SEAT Arona.

The Volvo XC40 is the Compact Crossover of the Year.

Skoda's Karoq  is the winner of the Medium Crossover category.

Mark McGrath of VW Ireland accepting the award for the Touareg.
The Large Crossover category was taken by the Volkswagen Touareg.

James McCarthy, MD of Nissan Ireland, accepting the Nissan Leaf's award.
Nissan's Leaf won the Green/Efficient Car category.

Chairman and MD of Ford Ireland Ciaran McMahon with the awards for the Fiesta ST and Focus.
The Ford Fiesta ST won the Hot Hatchback category.

Paulo Alves of BMW Ireland accepting the M5 award.
The BMW M5 took the Performance Car accolade.

Jeanne McGann of Nissan Ireland accepts the Innovation Award for the Leaf's e-Pedal.
And the winner of the Innovation Award for 2019 is the Nissan Leaf's E-Pedal.
