It's the fourth year in a row the Mustang has garnered the title, partly because the company extended the sales of the current generation to 146 countries, including RHD ones.
Some 75,842 units were bought in the US, making it the best-selling sports car there.
More than half a million Mustangs have been sold since 2015.
In 2018, 17 were bought in Ireland.
