Overload interest in Volkswagen's ID.3

More than 10,000 pre-booking registrations for the compact Volkswagen ID.3 electric car were made in the first 24 hours of the facility being made available yesterday, writes Brian Byrne.

Following the opening of bookings for the launch edition, limited to 30,000 units, the company's website was occasionally unable to cope with the interest load.

The pre-booking special edition ID.3 1st has a range of up to 420 kilometers (WLTP). While the recommended base price for the ID.3 production model in Germany will be lower than €30,000 for the smallest version, the exclusive special edition is being offered at less than €40,000.
