SEAT’s SUV range drives big increase in sales

SEAT Ireland has enjoyed an increase of almost 9pc in sales for the first half of the year compared to the same period last year cementing its position as one of the fastest growing car brands in Ireland holding 3.4pc of the current market compared to 2.9pc in the first half of 2018, writes Trish Whelan.

Driving SEAT’s success is its wide range of models that suit all audiences from the young and fun Ibiza right up to the new family friendly 7-seat SUV, the Tarraco. Their SUV range accounted for 60pc of all sales during the first six months of 2019.

The SUV range comprises Ateca, Tarraco and the brand’s best seller Arona. Voted Ireland’s Small Crossover of the year in 2019, Arona accounts for 30pc of overall sales year to date, an increase o f71pc compared to 2018 sales results.

New retailer appointments in the strategic urban areas of Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick have also contributed towards SEAT’s success as have the rest of their well-established and committed network.

Commenting Niall Phillips, Brand Director at SEAT Ireland said: “As we reflected on these great results for the first half of the year, we can confidently see the impact the brand is having in the Irish market as SEAT becomes a first choice in the SUV market for many Irish motorists.”
