A more powerful engine coming for Skoda's Kamiq, Scala

Skoda is now rolling out a 150hp 1.5 petrol engine in its Kamiq and Scala models in major European markets, writes Brian Byrne.

The engine will be the most powerful one of the five power units available in the cars' ranges.

It will feature active cylinder technology and will incorporate a petrol particulate filter.

The Kamiq went on sale in Ireland in early November with choices of 1.0 and 1.5 petrol engines and a 1.6 diesel.
