Mercedes-Benz has concluded its Arctic testing of the second electric passenger vehicle from the company, the EQV, and have concluded it is fit for purpose even in those most challenging conditions, writes Brian Byrne.
In temperatures as low as -20degC, the testers drove over lakes and roads normal for that region, and in measured the effects of extreme cold on the handling, ergonomics, and comfort.
The testing was augmented by 'cold cell' facilities checking of how the drive components worked, and investigated the thermomanagment of the complete vehicle.
The conclusion of the engineers was that the EQV, due for market launch in the second half of this year, performed 'very well'.
