Details of a new all-electric Opel Vivaro van have been released, writes Brian Byrne. The vehicle is due in Ireland in the later part of this year.
The Vivaro-e will come in a range of lengths and body variants and is expected to have a range of up to 330km under the WLTP test regime.
Payloads are up to 1,275g and the Vivaro-e will be the first vehicle in its segment with the capability to tow a trailer.
A choice from two battery sizes will be available, 50kWh and 75kWh, the smaller output providing up to 230km range. At high capacity public charging stations, they two batteries can be topped to 80pc of charge from empty in 30mins and 45mins respectively.
The Vivaro-e will have the same cargo options and driver assistance systems as its diesel counterpart.
The next electric Opel LCV, the Combo Cargo-e will arrive in 2021. Opel will offer an electrified version of every passenger car and LCV model by 2024.
