Audi has developed an electromechanical roll stabilisation system for its high-end SUVs which provide performance level road-holding without diminishing ride comfort, writes Brian Byrne.
The system, designated by the acronym eAWS, takes advantage of the 48-volt electrical systems that are increasingly common, to provide a very fast response from electronically actuated chassis components. Roll in corners is much more minutely managed.
Finalised last year after strenuous testing, it now seems that four in ten of Audi Q7 and RS Q8 cars are specifying the eAWS for their purchases.
