Nissan has captured the lion’s share of the early 2021 EV market with the 100pc electric Nissan LEAF with 200 LEAF’s sold during January 2021, twice that of most other EV car brands, writes Trish Whelan.
The company says its sales are being driven by its decade-long experience as EV leaders and by the value that it offers new car buyers who are now shopping from home.
Nissan says new buyers switching to the model have also been attracted by their ‘Power of Zero’ initiative which includes 0pc finance, the free provision and installation of their home charger and one year’s free servicing. This offer can save over €13,000 in finance and running costs as well as 11 tonnes of C02 emissions over five years, which is equivalent to planting 181,887 trees.
“The current lockdown has led motorists to consider all of the merits of EV driving. They are researching at home and buying from home,” said Seamus Morgan, new Managing Director of Nissan Ireland.
“The LEAF delivers up to 385kms of zero emissions driving on a single charge, the running costs are easier on your pocket and it maintains strong residual value. It is exceptionally well specced and starts at €27,595,” he added.
