Peugeot has revealed details of its new 308, its compact hatchback first launched in 2007, writes Brian Byrne. The car will be on sale in Ireland in Q1 2022.
The new 308 will have the new shield logo recently announced by the brand, and its front styling cues are in line with recent models previously launched. The car has a longer wheelbase, is lower, and has an aerodynamically enhanced silhouette. LED headlights are standard through the range, and daylight running lights are also in line with the current style from the brand.
Inside has a sharper style than before, the dashboard shaped to enhance the perception of width and the central screen and associated controls tilted towards the driver. Mirroring smartphones with the infotainment system is now wireless, and two phones can be linked to the in-car Bluetooth facility.
An improved Drive Assist pack will be available which has new functions including semi-automatic lane change, an anticipated speed recommendation, and a system which adapts the speed according to curve ratios on a bend. A heated windscreen will provide a faster defrost in cold conditions.
Powertrains will include two versions of the PHEV system already in place in other recent Peugeot models. The familiar 1.2 petrol and 1.5 diesel engines will be available.
