The Volkswagen ID.4 has won the World Car of the Year 2021 title, writes Brian Byrne.
The car, which recently went on sale in Ireland, is the second dedicated electric car from the brand, and its first SUV EV.
The World Car Awards are presented by more than 90 international motor journalists from 24 countries, who vote on the best innovations on the world market. It is the fifth time that Volkswagen has won the title in the 17 years of the Awards.
Other wins were the Golf in 2009, the Polo in 2010, the up! in 2012, and the Golf again in 2013.
