Dacia has launched its new generation Sandero and Sandero Stepway models in Ireland at a starting price of €12,999, writes Brian Byrne.
Engine options range from a 65hp naturally aspirated petrol 3-cylinder through a 90hp turbocharged petrol and a 100hp bi-fuel LPG and petrol version. The 65hp is available only on the Sandero hatchback. An automatic transmission is paired with the 90hp petrol version.
On a new platform from the Renault-Nissan Alliance, the new generations of the car handle and steer better and offer more refinement than their predecessors. A range of driver assistance options are available with the new versions, and the safety technologies that come with the platform are a significant boost in that area.
A smartphone dock in the lower grades can use a Dacia Media Control app to take advantage of the phone's communication and navigation abilities. There's a new 8" satnav display on upper grades connecting with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
Dacia Ireland boss Paddy Magee says that the reception for the new Sandero hatch has been so positive that allocations for the first two months have already been spoken for.
