New MGS6 provides generous all-electric range

MG's new MGS6 EV is now on sale in the brand’s showrooms nationwide priced from €39,495-€46,495, writes Trish Whelan. Powered by a 77 kWh battery and available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, this is a spacious, refined and generously equipped mid-size SUV that has already achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. 

Three variants are offered, Excite Long Range with a single motor and power output of 180kW and a combined range of 530km; the Exclusive Long Range with the same 530km capability, power and rear wheel drive configuration but with a high level of specification and more comfort and technology features, and the Exclusive Dual Motor with a power output to 266kW and with a 0-100km/h time of 5.1 seconds. This performance-focused variant achieves a claimed range of 485km. All three models can charge from 10-80 per cent in 38 minutes using rapid public chargers. Five drive modes and five regeneration modes, including One-Pedal mode, also feature across all variants. 

Boot capacity with rear seats up is 674 litres and up to 1,910 litres with them folded. The Exclusive single motor variant has up to 124 litres of frunk space. Standard equipment includes MG Pilot safety systems, heated front seats and steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, dual screens, wireless smartphone connectivity and satellite navigation. Higher trims add features such as a head-up display, panoramic roof, ventilated seats and a 360 deg camera. MG offers an eight-year/150,000km warranty. 

MG has announced the appointment of two new dealers, Frank Keane Drogheda, located on North Road, Drogheda, Co Louth; and Doyle’s Garage on Coast Road, Courtown, Gorey, Co. Wexford. 

New MG Motor Ireland dealer in Kildare

Rochford Motors appointed MG Ireland dealer

Mayo dealership has been appointed the MG Motor Ireland nationwide dealer network, writes Trish Whelan. Rochford Motors of Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo now represents MG Motor Ireland for the West of Ireland, serving customers throughout Mayo and Connacht. 

Welcoming the dealership to the network, Gerard Rice, Managing Director, MG Motor Ireland said Liam Rochford and his team have built a strong reputation over more than 40 years for trust, customer service and professionalism. 

The dealership is a well-established family business founded in 1981 by the late Billy Rochford and now led by Dealer Principal, Liam Rochford.

 

MG Motor releases offers for 242 registration

MG Ireland has announced 242 special offers across its vehicle lineup, including the MG4, MG ZS, and MG5, writes Brian Byrne. They include 0% Finance or €4,000 Off RRP on the MG4 EV Standard Range giving a starting price of €25,995, and making the MG ZS EV Standard Range available from €31,495.

The MG5 EV Long Range Excite is now available from €29,995 and the 242 special offers are available for a limited time only, with limited stocks.

All prices quoted exclude dealer delivery and related charges. 

241 offers from MG Motor

MG Motor is extending their offer allowing motorists save up to €2,500 across their range of fully electric vehicles, featuring the MG4, MG5 and MG ZS, writes Trish Whelan. 

The 241 offer is not available on MG4 XPOWER or MG4 Extended Range. Financing starts from 2.9pc APR. 

Meanwhile the MG5 EV (pictured) has achieved a maximum 5-star rating by Green NCAP, the industry-leading European independent emissions assessment programme. It is the first model from MG Motor to be assessed by Green NCAP. Across three core criteria of Clean Air, Energy Efficiency, and Greenhouse Gas Emissions, all had an overall score of 95pc putting the MG5 amongst the top five models tested in 2023. MG offers a 7-year warranty.

 

New MG4 EV for Ireland this winter

A new MG4 electric car will be launched in Ireland towards the end of this year, writes Brian Byrne.

It is the first MG model for Europe to be built on the Modular Scaleable Platform developed by MG brand owner SAIC of China, which maximises battery efficiency and reduces weight.

The company is claiming a rated range of up to 450km in a style that looks sporty and can accommodate five passengers.

Irish pricing, full specifications and first official Irish viewings will be announced later.

MG flags supercar concept ahead of Shanghai show

Iconic sports car brand MG has released pictures of a concept which likely shows details of a production coupe promised by the marque, writes Brian Byrne.

The Cyberster Concept is a roadster due for full reveal at Auto Shanghai later this month. Battery powered, a 0-100 sprint is claimed at under three seconds. 

A range of 804km is claimed. MG is owned by Chinese auto company automotive SAIC Motor.

Prices and details for new MG SUVs revealed

MG Motor Ireland has released full details and prices for its new electric and plug-in hybrid SUVs, writes Brian Byrne.

The MG ZS EV is a compact SUV priced from €28,995 and with a range of 263km. There's a 7-year warranty on the car and the battery. It comes with a high level of driver assist technology including adaptive cruise control and automatic high beam. An Exclusive grade adds heated and power-adjustable seats and a panoramic sunroof. 

The MG HS plug-in hybrid model has a starting price of €33,150 and an EV range of 52kms. The primary power is from a 1.5 turbo petrol engine and the combined system offers a 0-100km/h in less than seven seconds. 

Anyone buying either can before the end of January will get a free home wallbox charging unit installed.

MG brand returns to the Irish market

MG Motor is returning to the Irish market with a range of electric and plug-in hybrid models only in a first for the brand, writes Trish Whelan.

The line-up starts with the MG ZS EV, a B-segment SUV offering a seven-year warranty. It has been awarded a maximum five star Euro NCAP safety rating and comes with high levels of technology including MG Pilot suite of driver aids, three driving modes, a KERS system to recapture energy through regenerative braking and a 263 km (163 mile) WLTP certified range.

The first MG ZS EVs will arrive here this month for immediate sale followed by the all new MG5 EV which is a C-segment wagon and MG HS Plug-in, a C-segment hybrid SUV.

Operations in Ireland will be handled by the privately-owned Irish distributor Frank Keane Group.
