Maxol has a loyalty app

Maxol has launched a loyalty app, the first of its kind in Ireland to implement FuelPay, writes Brian Byrne, a feature that allows customers to pay for their fuel, from their vehicle, in the palm of their hand.

The app works by using geo-fencing and the user's phone GPS to determine at which service station the customer is located. Customers can turn on the fuel pump with their phones by entering the specific pump number on the app, without getting out of the car.

There are 76 Maxol locations in the Republic of Ireland and the app can offer a wide range of other services which Maxol wants to offer customers on one digital platform, including a station finder feature that will locate the nearest Maxol service station quickly.

Maxol launches easyWash with easytrip

Forecourt and convenience retailer Maxol has partnered with mobility solutions specialist, easytrip, to launch easyWash, a drive in car wash and go answer for customers who want to keep their vehicles in pristine condition, writes Trish Whelan.

The new service allows Maxol customers to use their easytrip tag at a participating Maxol car wash without getting out of the car and receive 20pc off a deluxe maxWash car wash from Monday to Friday.

Customers can simply drive up to a maxWash car wash at any participating Maxol service station, press the easytrip button, the easytrip tag will beep, and the wash will start as normal. The driver doesn’t need to go into the shop to get a ticket, or put in a code for the wash and can simply drive away once the wash is complete. The fee is automatically deducted from the tag holder’s account. easyWash is currently available at 17 Maxol sites and will be rolled out to over 30 sites by the end of 2018.

The 17 Maxol sites currently offering easyWash maxWash are: Adamstown Newcastle Road, Dublin; Ballycoolin Services, Dublin 15; Ballymount Road, Dublin 12; Beach Road, Sandymount, Dublin 4; Cromwellsfort Road, Dublin 12; Donabate, Co Dublin; Lucan Road, Co Dublin; M3 Mulhuddart, Dublin 15; Maynooth, Straffan Road, Co Meath; Mespil Road, Dublin 4; N7 Kill, Co Kildare; Richmond Road, Dublin 3; Sandyford Road, Dundrum, Dublin 14; Tymon, Castletymon, Dublin 24; Sutton Auto 24, Dublin 13; Ringsend, Dublin 4; and Ardbrae, Vevay Road, Co Wicklow.

There is no monthly fee to have easyWash activated on the easytrip tag. Easytrip has over 220,000 registered drivers using its services across Ireland today. Members enjoy the cheapest tolls, automated cash-free access to thousands of secure car parking spaces.

Guide to good manners on the road

Semperit Ireland and Maxol have produced a guide which highlights 10 simple ways in which drivers can show more courtesy and understanding towards other road users – in the hope that they will then pass on the good deed to someone else. Some of the ways motorists can ‘pass it on’ include:

 Giving way to other drivers in traffic
 Leaving plenty of space between you and the car in front
 Always saying ‘thanks’ if someone does you a good turn
 Being thoughtful about how and where you park
 Being extra patient around learner-drivers

The scheme will be promoted at all Maxol stations.
