It is the first car is the new DS line which will feature a range of models with more radical design content both inside and out.

Each car can be personalised to the owners taste, for the exterior, the roof, body, rearview mirror housings and wheels can all be customized. Inside, customers get a choice of dashboard strip, gearstick knob and other interior equipment.

Although a supermini size at under four metres, Citroen say it is a full five-seater and also has best-in-class volume at 285 litres.

The DS3 comes with a choice from two HDi DPFS engines developing 90hp and 110hp with 5- or 6-speed manual gearbox, and three petrol engines. The diesel DPFS versions all emit less than 115 g/km of CO2 – with a model at 99 g/km – while the petrol-powered DS3s emit between 136 g/km and 160 g/km.

ESP is standard along with the ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and emergency brake assist (EBA) and a range of driving aids, such as a cruise control/speed limiter and a gear change indicator that recommends gear changes to save on fuel and cut emissions, come as standard across all models.
