Toyota's recall progressing well

Toyota Ireland has completed about a third of the repairs due on its recall programme.

The company's dealer network has the capacity to carry out 1,100 of the accelerator repairs a day and those customers who have replied to the 18,130 recall letters sent out are being prioritised for the repairs.

David Shannon, MD of Toyota Ireland, yesterday issued a statement thanking all those people who have continued to support the company at this time. "It really is a testament to the strength of relationship Toyota has built with the Irish public over the past 30 years," he said. "For now our critical focus in Toyota Ireland remains, and all our energies are being channelled into, the successful completion of the recall and, in doing so, reassuring our customers and the general motoring public that their safety and peace of mind is of paramount importance to us."

Figures released yesterday showed the brand reached number one in the Irish passenger car market in February, selling 1,770 passenger vehicles for a 14.46 percent share of the market.
