The project is aimed at setting a new world record for lawnmower speed, which currently sits at 80.7929mph and was set in 2006 at Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, USA.
The British attempt is being led by Don Wales, nephew of the legendary speed ace Donald Campbell. They are calling in Project Runningblade, and the record bid will be made at Pendine Sands in South Wales.
Under the rules, the lawnmower must also be able to cut grass in the conventional manner.
