Land Rover Ireland will have the new 4.4 V8 diesel Range Rover here before the end of the year.
The new engine replaces the 3.6 V8 diesel and is more powerful and cleaner than the current unit, with CO2 emissions down to 253g/km against 294g/km.
The engine uses technologies developed for the 3.0 V6 diesel used in several Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, and has 313hp on tap compared to 272 for the 3.6 and pulls a massive 700Nm of torque..
In Ireland the new 2011 Range Rover will be available in HSE, Vogue and Vogue SE specifications, at prices estimated to be about 5 percent more than the current cars.
The Irish distributors expect to sell 40 full-sized Range Rovers next year. This compares to 14 last year and 21 this year to date.
