Just to whet your appetite, take a look at the super Porsche 918 Spyder sports car as the order book opens one year after the car's debut at Geneva Auto Show 2010.
This two-seater will be built in Stuttgart with production limited to just 918 units, and be offered in left-hand drive only. First customer delivers start in November 2013. Prices are from a whopping €645,000 - subject to VAT and on-the-road charges.
The 918 Spyder is driven by a unique type of plug-in hybrid system. Its V8 engine delivers more than 500hp, assisted by two electric motors with a total of at least 218hp. Its unique hybrid technology allows it sip a mere three litres of fuel per 100 kms (94 mpg).
This super car takes just 3.2 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint and has a top speed of more than 320 km/h (199 mph) so will be able to lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in less than seven minutes and 30 seconds - ahead of the Porsche Carrera GT at seven minutes and 32 seconds. The top speed on purely electric power is 150 km/h (94 mph).
The Porsche 911 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder is being offered to coincide with the start of orders for the 918 Spyder with deliveries starting in June this year for those with around £125,865 to spare for the coupe version, and £133,553 for the cabriolet (UK prices).
