Mazda3 recall affects 1,000 cars

Mazda Ireland says there are 1,026 cars in this country subject to a recall of Mazda3s built in 2008 and sold in Europe.

The problem relates to possible issues with the front windshield wipers, and in all, some 91,000 cars are affected.

It follows a US report of front wiper failure.

Mazda Ireland says it will be writing to affected owners in the coming weeks to bring their cars to an authorized dealership for a re-work of the affected item. The reworking is free of charge, and requires adding a ground wire to the front wiper motor on all affected vehicles.
