Fun at the Copenhagen Carnival

Every year in Denmark, the streets of Copenhagen become filled with Latin sounts and colourful costumes for the annual Whitsun Carnival, writes Trish Whelan.

Now in its second decade, this family-friendly event attracts more than 100,000 people. This year's carnival takes place from 25 - 27 May and looks set to be the biggest party yet bursting with samba girls, capoeira, Colombian dancing, colourful costumes, live bands, stalls with food from all over the world.

Throughout each day there is a wide array of Brazilian, salsa, reggae, blues, tribute bands and local DJs as well as various local associations staging displays. All in all, the carnival hosts 120 bands, on eight different stages, to entertain the audience over the three festival days.
