Fiat may stall new models

A replacement for the Grande Punto model scheduled for next year is one of the investments being 'reconsidered' by Fiat in cuts just announced that amount to half a billion euros, writes Brian Byrne.

The money is being pulled out of investment plans for the rest of this year on the basis that the company's boss doesn't see any growth in a stagnant pan-continent marketplace.

According to CEO Sergio Marchionne, any recovery is dependent on 'many factors', which includes how things go in Greece, what happens to the euro, and EU activities to sustain growth.

He was speaking to Automotive News Europe on his way to a meeting of European automobile industry leaders.
