Hyundai in Ireland is targeting a market share of up to 8 percent in Ireland in 2013, writes Brian Byrne.
This follows the brand achieving a 6.5 percent position 2012 to date, against a target share of 6 percent.
Hyundai Ireland MD Stephen Gleeson says it will be a difficult task to meet the 2013 expectation, but a combination of new dealerships and a strong new product range will make the target achievable.
At a presentation to mark the launch of the new Santa Fe SUV, he also announced the imminent arrival of the commercial version of the ix35 SUV, which he expects to account for a fifth of all sales of the compact SUV in 2013.
