Toyota Ireland say they expect only about 1 percent of cars currently under a recall will be found to need attention for a potentially faulty master electric window switch.
Aftersales Manager Brendan Steers said that in the vast bulk of cases in the 36,000-car Irish recall, no remedy other than the use of a special lubricant will be required. "If a switch is found to be sticky, we may change a switch board," he said.
The recall is part of a 7m vehicles operation, involving in Ireland 9,232 Yaris, 10,357 Auris, 14,112 Corolla and 2,392 RAV 4 vehicles manufactured between September 2006 and December 2008.
Toyota Ireland will be writing directly to those owners involved in the recall to arrange to have their vehicles checked by their local dealer at a time convenient for them and at no cost to the owner.
