Based on the 10-day figures for the first month of Ireland's 2013 car sales, Peugeot Ireland is reporting 31 percent growth in registrations, thanks largely to the demand for its new 208 supermini, writes Brian Byrne.
The 208 is the Continental Irish Small Car of the Year 2013, as selected by the members of the irish Motoring Writers Association.
According to Peugeot Ireland, there has also been strengthened demand for its 508 mid-sized saloon and estate range.
The brand has achieved a 5 percent share of the passenger car market in the first 10 days, and 6.5 percent of the LCV market.
The growth comes against a drop in overall car sales over the 10-day period, by almost a fifth. But in reality, the true position here won't show an accurate trend until the first month or two registrations are tabulated.
For Peugeot, though, the 10-day results are very encouraging.
