New C-Class will be bigger, more high-tech

The new generation C-Class from Mercedes will be longer, wider, and capable of accommodating taller occupants, writes Brian Byrne.

Pictures of the car released this week, in advance of its debut at the Detroit International Auto Show in January, show a much more stylish car than the current version, which is the brand's best-selling car on a global basis.

The new C-Class will be 100kg lighter than the current model, thanks to the use of aluminium in 50 percent of its structure.

In line with trends in the new S-Class and the revised E-Class launched this year, the new car will offer a wide range of driver assistance technologies.
