Super Cupra driving in

SEAT has revealed details of its equivalent of the Audi S3 and the Golf R, the Leon Cupra 280, writes Brian Byrne.

A 280hp 2.0 TSI petrol engine does the honours, and the car is capable of a sub-6 seconds sprint to 100km/h, and will be available in 3- and 5-door formats.

With the option of a DSG automatic as well as the standard 6-speed manual, the Leon Cupra will return the equivalent of 44mpg.

Technologies include a mechanical front diff lock, progressive steering and a dynamic chassis control variable between sport and comfort settings.

The car is built on a completely new platform compared to its predecessor.

A 235hp Leon Cupra will also be available.
