Opel Meriva retains in JD Power survey accolade

The Opel Meriva has retained its title as the top compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) in the JD Power Customer Satisfaction Report, again scoring the highest rating in its segment, writes Trish Whelan.

In the 'Germany 2014' JD Power VOSS (that's Vehicle Owner Satisfaction Study), the Meriva achieved an approval rating of 80.4 percent placing it ahead of competitors including the Nissan Note and Citroen C3 Picasso. Opel's flagship model, the Insignia, achieved sixth place in the mid-size class with a score of 81.7 percent.

Meriva was launched in 2010 and features rear-hinged FlexDoors which make it easier to get in and out, an elevated seating position for all occupants, and a FlexFix bicycle carrier system as well as numerous storage options.

The new Meriva arrived here in April powered by petrol and diesel engines. Diesels are 1.3, 1.6 and 1.7. Petrols are 1.4. Meriva also comes with upgraded transmissions and an IntelliLink infotainment system.

Prices are from €19,695-€26,195.
