The model tested was the 1.6 TDi Comfortline in left hand drive.
The Golf SV, which replaces the Golf Plus, has a longer wheelbase than the Golf providing generous interior space. It is also wider and higher. Luggage capacity at 500 litres is up 76 litres more than the Golf Plus. this increases to 590 litres by sliding the rear seat bench forwards. With rear seats folded, this increases to 1,520 litres.
The engine line-up includes a 1.2 TSI petrol with outputs of 85hp and 110hp, and a 1.6 diesel with 90hp and 100hp. At the top of the range is a 1.0 diesel with 150hp. All are EU6 compliant. The biggest seller is expected to be the 110hp 1.6 TDI which emits 101g/km and is in Tax Band A3 of €190 a year.
Three trims are Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.
It is now on sale priced from €23,350-€35,420.
