Frenchman Sebastien Ogier took a narrow victory in his VW Polo, his fourth Rally GB in a row, to confirm another World title despite a late challenge from Ott Tanak of Estonia in his Ford Fiesta, who was just 10 seconds behind at the end of three days of rallying. The Hyundais of Thierry Neuville and Hayden Paddon finished third and fourth.
Waterford's Craig Breen unfortunately crashed out on Friday, with his Citroen too badly damaged to continue.
Daniel Cronin scored his first major win in the West Lodge Hotel Fastnet Rally based in Bantry, where his Lancer Evo finished 38 seconds ahead of the Fiesta of Brendan Cumiskey. Hewison Autotest Championship rivals Steven Ferguson and Paul Mooney took a win and a second place each in the double header weekend in Sligo, with Leitrim driver David Thompson third each time.
