The new S-Design has joined the Fiat Tipo range and is now available to order in dealer showrooms, writes Trish Whelan.

Fiat say their sporty S-Design is a car dedicated to drivers who don’t want to compromise on style or substance. The car is available only as a 5-door hatchback.

The S-Design includes a lot of high technology features as standard including the next-generation Uconnect 7-inch HD LIVE infotainment system, fitted with high-resolution 7-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to allow drivers to access their phone’s functionality while in the car; glossy black details, exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels and Bi-Xenon headlights as standard.

A choice of five exterior colours is available including the new Street Grey.

Engines include a 1.4 T-Jet 120hp petrol engine which combined with a manual transmission produces 139g/km C02 while returning a claimed 6.1 L/100km on the combined cycle. It can do 0-100km/h in 9.6 seconds. The 1.6 M-Jet 120hp diesel with a manual transmission produces 98g/km C02 and returns a claimed 3.7 L/100km on the combined cycle. It does from zero to 100km/h in 9.8 seconds.

The Tipo S-Design hatch is priced from €22,995 for the 1.4 T-Jet 120hp petrol and €24,745 for the 1.6 M-Jet 120hp diesel.

Tipo turns 30:

The Fiat Tipo is celebrating its 30th birthday having been introduced on 26 January, 1988. A successor to the Fiat Ritmo, the car was developed by an international team of over 2,000 experts and clocked up more than 8.7 million kilometres in the most extreme climate in testing. New Tipo continues the same name with best in class interior space and a clean-cut exterior look. Seen as a practical and functional car, it boasts a 440L boot (550L for the station wagon version).

You can order a Tipo now priced from €16,745 for the Pol 1.4 95hp hatchback. Selected stock models can qualify for €3,500 Scrappage support or a 0pc PCP finance offer for retail customers.
