Thousands of Beetle fans thronged around Volkswagen's HQ in Wolfsburg last Saturday for the 14th Beetle Festival, writes Brian Byrne.
The highlight of the event, which was themed 'The Sunshine Tour' and celebrated the 20th anniversary of the New Beetle, was a parade of 200 Beetles of all vintages through the Volkswagen factory.
Among them were many rare editions, including the Hebmüller convertible, dating back to 1950, and one of the rare model year 2000 New Beetle RSI models with an output of 225 PS.
It was the first time the Beetle Festival was held in Wolfsburg.
