Cost still a barrier to EVs — survey

Opel's new Corsa-e.
An AA Ireland survey suggests that almost half of respondents say electric vehicles are too expensive for them to consider changing to the technology, writes Brian Byrne.

Some 6,000 motorists were asked the question about whether they would be willing to buy an EV in the future.

Other results concluded that only one in three respondents felt they understood what supports are currently in place to buy electric vehicles.

“As more manufacturers start to develop their own EV models, the upfront cost will likely start to drop," says Conor Faughnan, AA Director of Consumer Affairs. "But for now cost does seem to be blocking our transition to cleaner cars.”
