BYD launches the Seal in Ireland

The latest BYD model to arrive here is the Seal, a four-door, all-electric, D-segment saloon with a claimed range of up to 570kms, writes Trish Whelan.

This is the third model from the leading EV manufacturer to launch in Ireland since the brand was introduced to Ireland just eight months ago. The Irish franchise is held by Motor Distributors Limited.

The Seal follows the Chinese company’s recently-launched C-segment Dolphin hatchback and their first model, the Atto 3 SUV — winner of the Continental Irish Small/Compact SUV 2024 award as voted on by members of the Motoring Media Association of Ireland (MMAI).

Two grade variants are ‘Design’ and an all-wheel drive ‘Excellence’ option. The model offers two trim levels, six body colours, and two interior trim colours.

Power is from BYD’s own 82.5 kWh Blade Batteries with outputs of 313hp for the Design and 530hp for the AWD version.

The Design model starts at €44,036; Excellence AWD model from €49,836.
