A plug-in hybrid version of Ford's new Transit Connect compact van will feature in the powertrain lineup when it goes into production later this year, writes Brian Byrne.
The third generation of the Transit Connect will be available in first markets in the summer with a 2.0 diesel power, and the PHEV version from later in the year. Order books open in the spring.
The EV range of the PHEV van is a rated 110km, with capability for both AC and DC fast charging.
Carrying capacity has been increased with load volumes up to 3.7m3, and the van comes with a connected digital cockpit and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems.
The van will be available in three grades.
