Nissan gives Irish price for Leaf EV

Nissan Ireland has released the pricing for the new Leaf compact hatchback which goes on sale in February of next year.

The €29,995 price is after the Government grant of €5,000 for EVs, a special incentive. There will be no separate leasing of the battery.

There will be just one specification for the car, which will be shown in a Roadshow through Nissan's dealer network during the autumn.

It includes alloys, sat-nav, full set of airbags, cruise control and ESC.

Nissan Ireland estimate the running costs at around €230 a year, depending on electricity prices.

The first 2,000 EV customers will get a special charging point set up at home by the ESB, free of charge.

Other incentives for EVs are currently being considered by the Government.
