Have an 'easy trip' this Bank Holiday weekend

Motoring solutions specialist easytrip is warning drivers to take it easy on the country's roads this bank holiday weekend, with heavy traffic likely to put motorists at greater risk than usual.

According to the company, anyone planning a road trip this weekend can reduce the risk of accident or breakdown by taking a few basic precautions including the basics - before setting off, check your oil, water and petrol levels. Check your tyre pressure, tread depth and general condition (including the spare). Also make sure your headlights and indicators are clean and are working properly.

If you can, steer clear of heavily congested roads or dangerous areas where cars are at risk. If you do get stuck in traffic, be patient - nobody wants a 'shunt' on this of all weekends. You can also avail of a toll tag in advance of your journey, if needed, so you can travel stress free through the express lane.

On parking restrictions, read the signs closely and search for authorised parking zones if in doubt. An easytrip tag can be used to access more than 10,000 spaces at 22 secure city-centre car parks in Dublin, Belfast, Cork, Galway and Limerick. A full list of car park locations are on www.easytrip.ie

If you are unlucky enough to have a breakdown or accident, contact emergency services or breakdown operators immediately, then, if possible, stand away from the vehicle while you wait for them to arrive.
