This is the first member of the new Discovery family and features 5+2 seating in a footprint no larger than existing 5-seat premium SUVs.
Four trims are offered - S, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury.
Eddie Kavanagh, General manager Land Rover Ireland says 'it offers supreme versatility with a very generous and adaptable loadspace in the option 5+2 seating'. The car has Land Rover's Terrain Response technology and has been engineered to meet any challenge.
At launch, the Discovery Sport will be equipped with a range of four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. Both the all-alloy Si4 2.0 litre petrol engine and the 2.2 turbodiesel feature stop-start technology, high-pressure direct injection, and smart regenerative charging for performance and economy. Tax Bands are C (€390) and D (€570).
Later next year, an ED4 turbodiesel engine will join the range with C02 emissions of 119g/km. Both 9-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmissions are available.
