Renault reveals Kadjar - Captur's big brother

Renault has revealed its first C-segment crossover, Kadjar, writes Trish Whelan.

It draws from the cues associated with SUVs, saloons and estates and shares the DNA of the Captur concept car.

Available with either four- or two-wheel drive transmission, Kadjar is claimed to be equally at home on open roads as it is in built-up areas. The car is 4.45 metres long and 1.84 metres wide.

It uses the Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF-C/D platform which is the result of four years' joint development. It will benefit from a range of efficient engines which position it at the forefront of the segment in terms of low fuel consumption and C02 emissions.

Kadjar will be manufactured at Renault's Spanish plant in Palencia which currently exports 83 percent of its production to more than 50 different countries across five continents. It will go on sale in Ireland in late summer but will make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show which opens to the public on 5 March 2015.
