A 7-seat SUV will be concepted by SsangYong at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, writes Brian Byrne.
The production version of the XAVL concept will target European models such as the new Skoda Kodiaq, Mitsubishi’s Outlander, and Nissan’s X-Trail.
It will be one of several new models from the Korean brand, now owned by Indian company Mahindra and Mahindra, which are on the stocks.
A new Rexton large SUV will be launched later in 2017, and there’s a new Korando compact UV due in 2019.
European sales of SsangYong vehicles increased by 35pc last year, according to JATO Dynamics, and the Tivoli small SUV was responsible for half of the 19,705 units registered.
