Motorsport Ireland weekend round-up

Erik Holstein won both of the Dennings Cars Fiesta ST races at Bishopscourt, near Downpatrick, on Saturday, but teenager Alex Denning again showed his class by finishing second each time, also setting the fastest lap in each race on his first visit to the circuit, writes Richard Burke.

Limerick’s Paul O’Connell also scored a double in the Finnstown Castle Boss Formula Libre races, averaging more than 100 mph on his way to a runaway victory over Fergus Faherty in race two.
Ryan Loughran took a narrow win in the Carlow Mini Stages Rally, bringing his Escort home just seven tenths of a second ahead of early leader Damien Toner after six stages, with the lead changing hands on the second last stage.
