A Dutch tech company has developed paint for roadways that 'charges' during the day and lights up at night, writes Brian Byrne.
Studio Roosegaarde and Heijmans Infrastructure have developed the paint, actually a luminous powder coating for road markings.
Another development is a 'smart' paint, which will make snowflake designs on the road visible below certain temperatures, to remind drivers to take care.
A test section of highway is due to be in use somewhere in Holland by the middle of next year.
